The more changes, the more they remain the same, and while the ipad is widely used in today's education, tablets have been used as teaching tools for Australian schools since the 19 th century.
Until the middle-
20 th century, Slate
It has a flat black surface wrapped in a wooden frame
Like today's digital tablet, it is assigned to every student in New South Wales.
The students write, draw, and perform mathematical calculations on the slate with chalk, all of which remain on the slate until erased with their hands or cloth.
Today, the students simply clicked "undo ".
These two devices have a lot in common, although they come from different times --
They are all paperless, portable, lightweight, with a dark interface and allow users to erase or undo at will.
Both teaching tools enable students to build knowledge about the world through information collection, learning and application.
However, the biggest difference is that today's students are using a much more than they know of a tablet through which they can enter anywhere they think, or Google, take them away
Barry Wilford, who grew up as a teacher, studied at the new state Milton Center School as a child.
He recalled the pen and tip of his student age, the ink in the well, the stain left by the rocking movement of the table in the front seat.
He also remembers that in class 4 he used a slate pencil and then continued to use ink and ink-absorbing paper.
As a teacher, his favorite teaching tool is pen holder and tip, because handwriting is his specialty, while the blackboard is "chalk and talk.
"We can't use the slate like it looks.
"We must learn to adapt to the technology of the times in which we live," he said . ".
Stephen Grant is a teacher at the Milton Public School and a teacher librarian who manages the technical and digital requirements of the school.
His school has more than 300 iPads for children.
"We have iPads, laptops, smart technology and interactive boards," Grant said . "
"We also use Apple TV so we can show students the ipad and they can share their work on the big screen via Airplay on Apple TV.
Mr. Grant said the whole school was wireless.
"We talk about portability so that students can access information anywhere in the school," he said . ".
"Wireless connection is very important because it is what they have at home.
"People are no longer sitting on independent computers.
They have wireless iPads and laptops.
Grant said that Google is also very powerful in the education system, and more schools are starting to use Google.
Staff use it because they have access to cloud computing and unlimited access to Google drive.
"We had an assignment in the Google Classroom with links and tasks, and the students finished it later," he said . ".
"When they are done, they click finish and send it to the teacher for them to access and tag.
The modern classroom environment has undergone fundamental changes.
Now the students sit around the space, not on a particular table.
They are relaxed and they work with others.
"It's like a working space environment," Mr Grant said . "
"This is our goal.
However, we are a little blind because we do not know what the workplace will look like when these children finish their studies.
"But we're trying to keep them up with what's happening right now in these cuts --edge companies.
