Businesses in Cam County can benefit from new technologies that help reduce congestion and make it easier for employees to work flexibly.
Smart Cambridge, a project in the Greater Cambridge Partnership, is working with technology companies to provide a digital platform to improve existing transportation networks and support local infrastructure investments.
"We want people to come out of the car and take public transport to help reduce congestion," said project manager Dan Clark.
"New and emerging mobile models will support businesses by making it easier for people to work, including better travel information and integrated ticketing.
More and more people work from home, so we are also working on how to improve connectivity.
"We are also exploring the use of self-driving vehicles for public transport systems to make it easier for people to travel between campus and off-duty hours.
"Mr. Clark will explore the changing working patterns, new travel options and better connections for businesses at the" mobile future "seminar at the Cambridge B2B exhibition on Thursday, September 20.
Smart Cambridge has also recently launched a new mobile travel app and a smart road-finding screen that uses "live" and other travel data to help people travel more sustainably and reduce congestion.
More than 1000 people have downloaded the free MotionMap app from the App Store to more accurately predict travel times and use buses, trains, walks and bikes.
A smart panel screen will be installed in the foyer of public buildings and large businesses to provide customizable travel and other useful information for visitors and employees.
At Cambridge railway station and Trumpington Park, the new road-finding screen has appeared and the ride has begun.
Rachel Stopard, CEO of the big Cambridge Partnership, said: "We look forward to talking to businesses about the opportunities and challenges they face and how we can help support economic growth
"Working with partners, including the joint authority, our £ 1 billion investment in critical infrastructure will help accelerate business growth, ensure the economic future of greater Cambridge and bring prosperity to the region as a whole.
