Bollywood veteran actor and producer Shahi Kapoor has died of chronic illness at the age of 79.
Kapoor's nephew, Randall Kapoor, said that Kapoor died at Kokliben hospital in Mumbai on Monday, where he was being treated for kidney disease.
Kapoor, a member of a family dynasty in India's Bollywood film industry, is a brother of Raj and Shami.
Prithviraj Kapoor's youngest son, veteran of Bollywood and drama, has starred in more than 100 films over 50 years of his career.
Some of his most famous movies include Deewaar (1975)
Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978)and Suhaag (1979).
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the superstar on social media, saying his performance "will be remembered among generations to come ".
Politician Shahi Tarrell wrote on Twitter: "I think part of me has disappeared.
A great actor, smart, international, impossible to be handsome & my name is often confused.
"You will continue to inspire the next generation of actors," Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag wrote . ".
Local media reported that Kapoor, who was survived by two sons and one daughter, will be cremated on Tuesday.
