Host Rachel Cherry: Thank you for staying with us for an hour at home.
Have a Good Friday.
Happy Christmas in June.
Did you see what just happened in Texas? I`ve got a15-
The second piece of tape
See if you can see from looking at this 15-second tape what's weird about this bill that Texas has just signed.
You are not looking visually for something in this clip.
What are you actually listening?
So, look at this. (

Texas: I want you to listen to the author of the bill, who happened to be Reagan's father, the representative of Dwayne bohatch. (APPLAUSE)(END VIDEO CLIP)
You-did you hear the bell?
Strange ringtones
A seasonal ring tone. All right.
Now there's a clue.
Texas Governor Rick Perry signed the bill at the ceremony.
Everything looks normal.
But wait, wait, wait. Who`s that guy?
Who is the man on Rick Perry's right shoulder?
Who is the guy with a funny hat and a long white beard?
Yes, that's Santa.
In fact, Rick Perry put a bunch of signature stunt Santa Clauses in the room.
What just happened in Texas was Rick Perry signing a bill, he held a grand and gorgeous signing ceremony, the sleigh bells and Santa Clause rang through the whole room and signed a bill, this makes it not illegal to say "Merry Christmas" in Texas. Seriously. (

Male TV anchor: Well, it may be June, but today people in the state Capitol are preparing for the holidays.
Anchorwoman: Today, Governor Perry signed a legislation that allows teachers and students to use greetings such as "Merry Christmas" or "happy festival of light" at school. (CHEERS)
Female Anchor: those are members of the Lone Star Santas club.
They came to the Capitol to support the bill. (END VIDEO CLIP)MADDOW: Yes.
You can say Merry Christmas in Texas now.
Thanks to Governor Rick Perry, it's not illegal to say Merry Christmas.
Now, is it illegal to say Merry Christmas in Texas?
You know, you'll never be too careful, but saying Merry Christmas is now a double protection for Rick Perry, Texas in case you're worried.
Rick Perry has been worried about this for a long time.
The secret illegal nature of Christmas is an important political idea.
You may recall that when he ran for president, he tried to put one of the core issues of the campaign, and he led a fight to prevent Christmas from being illegal in Texas.
He will lead the fight against President Obama across the country.
He is not afraid.
President Obama may want to ban Christianity by making Christmas illegal, but Rick Perry supports Santa. (

Perry: I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a Christian.
But you don't need to be in pew every Sunday to know what's wrong with the country, homosexuality can serve openly in the military, but our children can't celebrate Christmas and prayers openly in school.
As President, I will end Obama's war on religion and fight against liberal attacks on our religious heritage.
Faith makes America strong.
It can make her strong again.
This is Rick Perry. I agree with the news. (END VIDEO CLIP)
So this is Rick Perry's first run for president.
Wearing his barn coat, he will protect you from gay people.
So, if you're worried, America, the person who stands between you and Gay is the person.
Rick Perry received a bottle of maple syrup, and of course, he embraced a bottle of maple syrup in a speech in New Hampshire.
Rick Perry will protect you from homosexuality and he will protect the Christmas laws of Democrats who want to make Christmas illegal.
Rick Perry ran for president for the first time.
This is the way he first ran, and probably the way he ran for president for the second time.
While we're still following a ban and talking about 2016 on Rachel Madoo show, on the whiteboard in my office, it has my own handwriting, a way you know, despite Rick Perry's 2016 ban on running for president again, except Rick Perry himself, who says he's willing to run for president again, you know one of the things he means is, because Bill signed with a sleigh bell and Santa Clause, where he saved Christmas, this is the last thing he did in Texas before leaving Texas to fly to Washington for the new Christian League Conference.
Rick Perry will speak tomorrow at the Christian Union Conference, which will host all the other Republicans who want to run for president.
Since Ralph Reid tarnished the old name of the Christian Union, the Conference of the Christian Union is now called the Conference of Faith and Freedom, but it is the same as before.
I'm Ralph Reid, and I'm Gary Bauer and Felix schlafite, and there are others.
The confusion of this Republican social conservative involves a very sensitive moment in our politics, when it comes to these closest and dearest issues in the hearts of the people, especially in gay politics.
I mean,.
Gay politics has always been at the heart of the Christian Union and the organized Christian conservative movement.
For them, the sensitive issue now is not just a shift in public opinion in the United States to support gay rights.
ABC News/"Washington" s latest poll this week showed that 57% of Americans support legitimate equal marriage rights.
It goes beyond that, though.
Not just that sentiment, the country's widespread sentiment makes it look awkward for them to stand against that sentiment.
The question is being raised.
There are policy positions coming soon, policy decisions coming soon, Republicans not only have to understand each other's feelings, but for most countries that disagree with them on gay rights.
Republican politicians will lose the luxury of talking only about gay rights in front of anti-gay people
Gay audiences like the Faith and Freedom League, or are completely avoiding the issue because they really don't want to be cited because their Republican stance on the issue is very unpopular.
One of these upcoming policy decisions is the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
This is a bill that simply says you can't get fired for being gay.
No employer can post a sign in their window that says we don't hire gay people.
It is now legitimate for employers to do so at the federal low level.
You can't do something like this on a race basis, and of course you can't do it on a gender basis, and you can't do it according to age and all these other protected categories.
But if you want to fire someone just because they're gay, if you want to make a job announcement that says, "I won't hire you if you're gay, there's no gay need to apply, "Nothing in federal law prevents you from doing so.
Today, in the form of Majority Leader Harry Reid, the non-discrimination bill that will be fixed has received 50 sponsors in the Senate.
That means that if Republicans don't block it, the non-discrimination bill will now have enough votes to pass and, of course, they will.
Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio was asked yesterday by an aggressive "thinking progress" reporter about his position on the Non-Discrimination Act, and he followed him into the elevator. (

Reporter: This summer, the Senate will discuss the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which makes it illegal to dismiss homosexuality.
Do you know if you will support this? SEN. MARCO RUBIO (R)
Florida: I haven't seen legislation yet.
But, in general, I think all Americans should be protected, but I am not in favor of any special protection based on direction.
Reporter: What about race and gender?
RUBIO: This is the established law.
Reporter: But not because of sexual orientation?
Hi, how are you, man? (END VIDEO CLIP)
Hey, how are you, man?
This is not an answer.
This is the loss of a cruel watch.
Not for sexual orientation?
-Hey, how are you?
Very ugly.
But Marco Rubio.
Gay, Marco Rubio.
The stance of gay policy is not surprising.
He never brought a kiss.
Gay rights stance on anything.
Just yesterday, he said he would screw up the whole issue of immigration reform.
He will blow up the whole thing that he has been working on, he will put his whole political future on it, and if immigration reform applies to homosexuality, he will kill the whole idea of immigration reform, too. (
Start audio clips)
RUBIO: This bill contains something that gives gay couples the right to immigrate, etc. it kills the bill. I`m gone.
I have said it many times.
I don't think this will happen, nor should it. (END AUDIO CLIP)
Hayes: I'm gone. I`m off it.
This should not happen.
So, in the future of the Republican Party, Marco Rubio said that if immigration reform also applies to gay people, there should be no immigration reform.
He says it should be legal for your boss to fire you in this country because he finds you gay or because he thinks you're gay.
Perhaps nothing should be surprising about socially conservative politics, and what these people represent in 2013.
But no discrimination, right?
I mean, you would think it would be something they could get more people out of line in this regard.
I mean, Harry Reid ranks 50 on sponsorship of the non-discrimination act because 48 votes and 49 votes for the non-discrimination Act have just happened.
The men are from Angus King, an independent senator from the middle school in Maine.
Also from Heidi heitakamp, who is now probably the most conservative Democrat in the Senate.
For example, Heidi heitakamp, who voted against background checks on gun sales, is very conservative on many social issues.
But even she has no discrimination.
But when it comes to Republicans, not only does Marco Rubio disagree, not even Rob Portman's province.
Rob Portman was the one who suddenly decided on same-sex marriage after his son came out.
So, his marriage rights to his son are OK, but it is OK for marriage rights that are not discriminated against?
Son, you are forced to resign because of you, can I accept it?
I just don't want you to go through it alone?
If you get married, you can get fired for being gay together.
What is the point of this?
You see these maverick Republicans on the screen, the only three Republicans in both houses of Congress who support non-discrimination in gay employment.
While all these members of Congress are Republicans, what you don't see is 2016 of the Republican primary area.
You obviously can't support non-discrimination against homosexuality and have any future in Republican politics.
In the next few years, no one has a real prospect of becoming the leader of a Republican political state, except for 100% of the opposition.
The stance of gay policy on non-discrimination.
If you're a Republican and you want to take on a higher national position, it's obviously still a requirement.
This is embarrassing because the whole country is in a very, very different place, there is a good chance that something very embarrassing will happen next Monday, the Republicans will collapse because there is no guarantee this Monday, no one knows exactly, but many court watchers expect the U. S. Supreme Court to release this morning
Fact finding on the same issuesex marriage.
The court is expected to rule on the constitutional nature of California's ban on the same act
Same-sex marriage is also referred to as the eighth pillar, and we also look forward to a court ruling on laws passed by DOMA, the Marriage Protection Act, Congress and signed by Bill Clinton. It`s an anti-
Deny the same gay laws
Sex couples are recognized by the federal government and federal benefits for marriage.
The Supreme Court heard a debate on the two cases within three months.
This Monday is the day after we can get the final ruling on these cases from them, and a lot of people are looking forward to the ruling on Monday.
For Republicans who find themselves on the side of a quick mistake, these imminent rulings are a problem.
Public opinion is aroused on this issue.
I mean almost all the elected Republicans, because in the Republican world, when it comes to homosexuality, it's a very different world than the rest of us live in.
This week, for example, as the court prepares to issue these and 50 Joint rulings
Sponsors are signing the Non-Discrimination Act, and Republicans in Congress are accepting lobbying from all social conservatives who are in town to attend Ralph Reid's new version of the Christian League and its big conference.
Republicans in Congress lobbied this week about the evil and darkness of same-sex marriage, if the courtgay way.

Ken Blackwell: If the court will (AUDIO GAP)
The voice of the people of California will fundamentally change the definition of marriage, and I think it may lead to a civil protest that reminds people of the civil rights movement in their 50 s and 60 s. (END VIDEO CLIP)
MADDOW: If the court decides to support same-sex marriage, it will be a massive civil disobedience of 1950 and 1960.
The country will rise in anger and the streets will be full for years. Really?
The problem for the Republicans is that after these rulings come out, they are not only able to talk about it with Ken Blackwells in the world, but also Ralph Reid and Felice schlafis in the world, when they call it sodomy, are those who cheer for them in the speech right?
This will be the country's biggest news after these rulings are announced.
They will also have to talk to the rest of the country, who are not only against them on these issues, but are confused about them and their positions on these issues.
No one knows exactly what will happen on Monday, but it will be fascinating. (

The plaintiff, Idi Windsor: I am a gay today, well, he just sued the United States of America, which is a bit overwhelming for me.
Four years ago, I was so sad when my beautiful, sparkling Thea died.
Within a month, I was hospitalized for a heart attack.
This is very common.
It is usually considered a heart-breaking syndrome.
When I was sad, I realized that the federal government treated us as strangers, and I paid a huge inheritance tax, which meant it was not easy to sell a lot of things to do it.
It's not easy for me to live on a fixed income. (END VIDEO CLIP)
MADDOW: that's Edith Windsor, Idi Windsor, the plaintiff in the Supreme Court's defense of the Act Marriage.
Many very experienced court observers believe that California may announce its ruling on the case and its eighth lawsuit on Monday.
Not sure at all if it will happen or what the ruling will be.
But it may be Tom Goldstein who is joining us now. He`s co-
The founder of the SCOTUS blog, which covers the Supreme Court who won the pebodi Electronic Media Excellence Award this year, is the first blog to win the award. Mr.
Goldstein gave a lecture at Harvard University, where he debated 28 cases in the Supreme Court.
Tom Goldstein, thank you for being with us.
Tom Goldstein, Scott Blog: Merry Christmas.
Thank you Governor Perry for letting me take it off my chest.
Yeah, I know the threat of Gestapo is holding you back, right?
Look, Tom, there's no way to know if Monday will be that day.
But what do you think about this day?
Goldstein: I think this time may come to the end and the judges have heard the arguments you described in the march.
They don't give us any tips.
But it could be such a big battle, especially when you have two cases on such a historic issue --
Sexual marriage will happen sometime in the next two weeks.
But Monday may be a bit ambitious.
But this is for sure.
MADDOW: What do you expect from the outcome of these cases?
Do you expect them to make a decision at the same time? Will we hear these two rulings on the same day?
Yes, I will be shocked.
In a sense, they are twins.
They raised a question about the non-compliance of federal laws with the Constitution and state laws.
Some of the same theories argue that discrimination against same-sex couples and heterosexual couples violates equal protection.
So it is the practice of the court to do this together.
In terms of what is going to happen, I think there will be a split result that, as you describe it, will go back to the national dialogue.
First and foremost, I think the DOMA will be overturned, or a theory that violates the same right --
If the state wants to recognize same-sex partners or violate the rights of the state
I think Justice Kennedy is sympathetic to the fact that Congress cannot overturn the verdict.
Proposal 8 requires this very conservative Supreme Court, the most conservative Supreme Court we have ever had, to recognize the same rights --sex marriage.
It seems that the center of the court is looking for a solution to this problem.
MADDOW: they can do that and say we shouldn't do it in the first place, or make a decision based on some technology that avoids merit?
Goldstein: Exactly right.
It was said that perhaps these plaintiffs did not have the right to appeal because everyone in charge of enforcing these laws gave up on them.
The president says DOMA is not constitutional.
The governor of California declined to defend Proposition 8.
The state attitude you describe also applies to elected officials.
Ironically, this may give the Supreme Court a way to kick this critical, fundamental issue as it continues to advance the DOMA case.
MADDOW: I'm going to be a heretic and talk about the judge as a political figure in a second.
I know they don't like being talked about like this.
But I do tend to think that the younger and more conservative judges in particular are politically minded.
In particular, Judge Roberts, who is a young chief justice, thinks about how to look at him.
When I thought he was a political figure, I thought of his concern about how his federal Conservatives would view his ruling on Obamacare.
Maybe he doesn't want to be seen as a countryman, maybe he wants to be seen as a conservative.
If I infer, I'm making it up.
He doesn't want 5-if I infer-
When he was on the side of a five-vote gay marriage, he ruled.
I think he wants a bigger ruling than that.
He wanted six, seven, eight and nine votes in favor.
Thinking in these terms, am I crazy?
Goldstein: Well, I don't think you even need to look at it just as a political issue.
You can see it as a person who is very concerned about the views of this institution.
I don't think he will sweat a lot.
This is the benefit of tenure.
But in all the events, it's really strange to think he's going to be the fifth.
Justice Kennedy wrote two very important cases about gay rights and he was really the same person
Advocates of same-sex marriage are first concerned with the Conservatives of the court.
It is almost certain that he will vote for the fifth time and then for the sixth time.
MADDOW: as far as the award is concerned, the court will soon make other major rulings, and it is clear that another ruling that everyone is very concerned about is the Voting Rights Act.
Do you have any other informed guesses about the time we were there or the possible outcome?
Goldstein: that might get up faster.
This was argued in advance.
This is about Article 5, which is a truly historic provision of the Voting Rights Act that provides for jurisdiction and who has a history of discrimination dating back to 1960, before deciding on their voting system, it must be licensed by the Department of Justice or the court-they will continue to enter new forms of discrimination if they are always prosecuted.
A few years ago, this court opened fire on Congress saying that you need to narrow down and you need to reduce the number of jurisdictions covered.
Congress did nothing.
When it appears that other departments of the government have not noticed this, the judges do not like it.
So, despite a weak majority, I think the regulation may be important.
Tom Goldstein, co-founder of SCOTUS Blog-Tom, thank you so much for your time tonight.
You always make these things clear and terrible.
Thank you for inviting me.
Thank you very much.
I mean, there is Article 5 in the Voting Rights Act, which is a backbone civil rights protection.
If that is the case, it seems that most people familiar with the matter think this will continue, and I don't know what kind of political impact this will have, but in this country, this will be a very important thing and will last for a long time. So think I.
We will be back soon. (

It's been six months since Newtown.
Others are saying that despite the national terror incident, the national outcry over what happened to Newtown, everyone at the federal level is saying that Congress has really done nothing about guns.
In practice, however, the House did pass some bills last week on gun issues.
Republicans in the House passed a bill.
Relevant legislation since Newtown.
This is a bill that prevents the government from buying ammunition and law enforcement from buying it.

This is the point.

INHOFE:-knowing that we have a president who wants to take it away-yes, they will buy it, but they won't reach that percentage.

MADDOW: I know it's a fact because I know people care about it, so there's no harm if I'm wrong.
That's why I know it's true.
It seems crazy when Senator James Inhoff of Oklahoma responds to the so-called Americans who care about him, and if he is wrong with a bill that actually prevents law enforcement agencies from buying training ammunition
But Senator Inhofe is that kind of person, you know, hey, his minority party in the Senate, so his crazy thoughts on him, you know, believing that the people who President Obama decided to go to the tornado brought us, the crazy idea of James inhoffer is not going to work in the US Senate, which is true.
But you know what?
It's over anyway.
The Senate did not do anything, but the Republican Party took control of the house.
In the Republican Party-
They passed this thing. By lots. Look.
Big profit, 234.
192. vote on the party line.
They passed their version, the House version of the Jim Inhoff block law enforcement from buying bullet conspiracy theory Act.
They passed it as an amendment to Homeland Security funds.
So, when we lament that six months after the Newtown incident, Congress can't do anything about guns and ammunition, or about the deteriorating problems of mass shootings in our country, it's wrong, because Republicans
The House can do something about this.
They can fuel catastrophic paranoia from my cold war of the government's conspiracy to gun nut bases on which they live.
They can feed it.
That's what they can do.
Gallup's poll today reported that American confidence in Congress has not only fallen to its lowest level since modern polls, americans 'confidence in Congress has fallen to the lowest level in any major US institution in the voting history.

What's going on with this?
This is coming. Stay with us. (

MADDOW: It sounds like the most fictional place in the world, but in fact, it's a real place, it's Timbuktu.
The name indicates the idea that is hard to find.
It has become a Western metaphor for distant things.
Because it is remote.
This is not just because Timbuktu is far from the United States. S.
Many places are far away, but there is no specific connotation.
I think this is specific because Timbuktu is on the edge of the Sahara, Africa's largest desert.
It is located in northern Mali.
Even if you're closer to Timbuktu, it's still remote and hard to get there.
That's one of the many reasons why the Associated Press's current series of exclusive news is fascinating.
Since February, ". P.
"According to the documents they say al-Qaida fighters stay in a building in Timbuktu, they have been rolling out exclusive coverage. An “A. P.
The reporter said that she found al-Qaida's confidential documents in the house, "hidden under a pile of documents and garbage ".
If the file is real, and ". P.
They say they are real, they expose a lot of things we didn't know about al-Qaida before, and they may not want anyone to know that once they overthrew enough government, how they plan to rule North Africa.
This is the building where "A" is located. P.
The reporter found al-Qaida secret documents in Timbuktu, which were published in the original Arabic, by ". P. ” into English. “The A. P.
So far, the series has published four stories, all based on documents found by the reporter in a house in Timbuktu.
Some stories have some sick funny details about al Qaeda day --to-
Day-to-day office politics, such as politics about al-Qaida leaders in North Africa who ignore calls, miss meetings, disobey orders and, worst of all, feel very angry about their subordinates, do not submit his expense report
This has proved to be a common problem.
More seriously, however, comes from the same ". P.
"Reports in Timbuktu provide evidence that al-Qaida in Mali owns and trains the use of fairly complex ground-to-air missiles. “The A. P.
Actually, the al-Qaida surface was announced. to-
Air Force missile training manual.
So we have information about what specific weapons certain al-Qaida cells have and what they plan to do with them, because the word is an ongoing source of ""P. ” reporting.
Sometimes, even the most sensitive and sensational news, we know exactly how news organizations have mastered this sensitive or sensational thing that they have published that does have a bearing on national security.
Sometimes we know
Sometimes the reporter found it in the garbage dump of a house in timbbatu.
However, sometimes the source of information is not so easy to track.
For example, on the same day this week, ". P.
Released their latest news about al-Qaida and the surfaceto-
On the same day, The Washington Post published a different story about al-Qaida.
The story of the post is about how the United StatesS.
The forces that undermine al-Qaida's online magazine, "Inspire," include aspects that al-Qaida is clearly not easy to notice.
Like screwing up a bomb.
It still looks right to issue instructions to instructions, but bombs made using them will not be valid bombs.
Intelligence officials say, "sometimes chaos happens when magazines are integrated together. A U. S.
The operator may change the technical points in a set of bomb manufacturing instructions so that the equipment does not work.
"This kind of damage may be ignored for a long time," the source said . ".
The Washington Post was aware of the sensitive information and was able to publish it as unnamed officials leaked it to the Washington Post.
"If al-Qaida doesn't notice that the bombs they make instructions online are destroyed, then it seems important for officials to leak the fact to the newspaper, because now al-Qaida knows, right?
We don't know why these officials have leaked this information because we don't know who they are.
They were not named.
As for their motivation, we are not able to obtain and report their motivation.
But it now seems that every major news report on national security, at least in the past few weeks, has been based on leaked information.
Of course, the blockbuster about NSA espionage was first leaked anonymously.
The leaker decided to expose himself.
So now, we know at least who he is, and we know the explanation why he did it.
But there are stories like this in today's Washington Post, which should be a shocking and detailed travel plan for President Obama's upcoming trip to Africa.
Regarding the president's upcoming visit, we don't know who leaked this travel and security document, but we do know why it was leaked.
Some people want to embarrass the government.
The person who cites the "post" description as "worried about the amount of resources needed for travel.
In the same story, the Post notes that these are exactly the same preparations for the former president who traveled to Africa, and of course, when he was the president, for some reason, this is an anger.
Of course, now the biggest national security report in the news, not only here, but also globally, began with the leakage of the country.
When we were going to air last night, a story broke out and the Obama administration is now very confident that the Syrian government has used chemical weapons, the United StatesS.
In response to the statement on chemical weapons, weapons will be provided to Syrian rebels.
In the past 24 hours after the story, the story has been largely driven by leaks.
I mean, despite the government's efforts to introduce their decision to reporters
They did not win before the leak.
The leak won.
The Obama administration itself has announced a new major economic upgrade. S.
It was leaked to The New York Times and then to a senator.
Before the White House announced any official news about Syria to the public, Senator John McCain went to the Senate to tell everyone what the White House was about to say.

According to these anonymous leakers, the weapons will be provided by the CIA and, of course, the CIA will take covert action and therefore will not formally disclose the action and, therefore, the leak.
Many things have happened in national security and national security.
There's politics now.
But now one of the news-worthy things about US national security politics is how many major leaks have been considered closely relevant in recent days.
In the past few weeks, important new national security information has been leaked almost every day.
It is in the confusing context of real information, clearly the context of real information, and we are now trying to figure out why the United States decided to intervene in the Syrian civil war after a few months of persistence, what kind of intervention do we really have to do.
This is a symbolic step, is it a political step, or is it possible to make a difference in this war.
At the end of the day, foreign correspondent Eiman mocherdin of NBC News joined us.
He has visited Syria three times since the beginning of the Syrian revolution.
Ayman, it's great to have you.
Thank you for coming.
Ayman mohyeldin, foreign correspondent for NBC News: It's a pleasure to be here.
MADDOW: Strategically speaking, the United StatesS.
The government has long expressed its desire for the Assad government to step down.
Will what they are doing now make things more likely to happen?
MOHYELDIN: Thanks to all the articles you mentioned, it's hard to evaluate right now.
We don't know what the weapons will be.
We don't know if they will benefit this battle in the balance of the opposition rebels, because in the end this is what the United States declared. S. objective.
This is what the opposition wants.
But thanks to the efforts of the US government,S.
Other countries are doing the same.
Russia, China, Iran and now Hezbollah are sending their weapons, fighters and supplies to the Syrian regime and you are going through an acting war.
MADDOW: think about -- I mean, think about Hezbollah --
The trained fighters, apparently the official army of Syria, plus the support you describe from Russia, China and Iran, if this is the strength of one side, is there any level of weapon shipped to the other side that could make it a fair battle?
Or will this always be an unbalanced guerrilla war against organized forces?
MOHYELDIN: Well, you know, from a military point of view, you might create a balance because if you impose a no.
This requires NATO countries like Turkey, the United States, and European countries. there is no doubt that at the military level, the comparison between the troops you mentioned and the NATO countries is absolutely conducive to the NATO countries and their technical capabilities.
But on the ground, in the last two years of this revolution, the rebels have been able to occupy the territory and seize it,, they cannot stop the Syrian regime's air force from bombing them or their tanks into these cities.
That's why we see the peak of death tools.
So one of the reasons why people advocate or advocate a ban on flight zones is to eliminate this particular threat, which of course is one of the reasons why we learn from leaks in the United StatesS. considering.
MADDOW: So, the rebels think the Syrian government's air power is decisive.
This is the reason for the change.
If they are deprived of the advantage of air power, they may occupy the country.
MOHYELDIN: of course.
And this is the same argument that was put forward in Libya until the Libyan opposition --
Benghazi was only controlled when NATO stepped in and gave them air superiority and continued to travel to Tripoli.
Same here.
People are arguing that the opposition is arguing that they can't keep the territory they have, because what tends to happen once they overthrew the regime is that the regime's air force enters and razes the whole area to the ground.
That's why they call No. fly zone.
This started in the United States. S.
Participation in this battle began with humanitarian assistance, and there were some problems with the actual number of humanitarian assistance.
It should then be bullet-proof and night vision glasses, which is a kind of technical assistance, not humanitarian assistance, and again, the question of whether or not those assistance arrived there.
But now, this is military aid, and there is a limited range of weapons we hear.
If this does not turn things around strategically, does the United States notS.
Has promised the next step, this will be no. fly zone?
I mean, when you're talking about the way this crosses with AmericaS.
Politics, if our idea is to intervene in order to make a difference, then what we are doing so far may not make a difference, we don't have to do it-fly zone?
Isn't this slope very slippery?
This is a very slippery slope.
President Bashar AL-ASSAD, the United States has made clear what its goals are. Assad must go.
So, you're on paper, it's a statement of the United States. S.
This is our goal.
So everything in AmericaS.
It is incremental from now until this goal is achieved.
Now some people think that the United StatesS.
The Arab states are allies in the region and they say, if you have put forward that goal, why are you going to step by step to solve the specific problem that you know will overthrow the regime, which is a direct U. S. intervention.
This is not military.
We're not talking about military issues anymore.
You have to collect it back from the terms used.
But either No.
There is more diplomatic pressure to offset Russia's influence at the United Nations and involve NATO.
But at the end of the day, you have stated your goals and everything that has happened from now to now is gradual and people say you need to go all the way to the end.
MADDOW: I don't think there is any dispute other than the USS.
Military intervention.
I think that once engagement-military supply starts at the beginning of U. S. military engagement, I can hardly imagine that the U. S.
We walked all the way, and then we stayed there for ten years.
MOHYELDIN: You know, that place in the world doesn't want to see another U. S.
Military intervention.
This part of the world is not. Right.
MOHYELDIN: of course.
That's why you're not -- it's unlikely that AmericaS.
There will be any type of boots on the ground.
Maybe it shouldn't have boots on the ground.
But in the end, they want to see more American citizens. S.
Lead the region diplomatically.
Oh, I feel like I 've seen this movie and I hate it for the first and second time.
Foreign correspondent Ayman Mohyeldin-Ayman for NBC News, it's always great to have you here.
Thank you very much. Thanks. All right.
Also, oh, the newspaper endorsement that comes with snap's side.
Also, our old friend Scott Brown. Stay with us. (
Business break)
The largest Spanish-language newspaper in Massachusetts is called El Planeta ".
It is based in Somerset, Massachusetts.
The whole history of the newspaper has never recognized a candidate.
But this year, in the Senate seat elections before John Kerry, Republicans have been running their Latino state --
Throughout the state's history, "El Planeta" was a broad candidate who decided to join and be recognized.
The first Hispanic candidate in Massachusetts's history in the Senate.
So the largest Spanish-language newspaper in Massachusetts will be involved.
They did it today.
They recognized another person.
Gabriel Gomez was not recognized by "El Planeta.
They support Ed Mackey, the Democratic candidate.
Quote, "for a Spaniard you will expect --
Language media during the campaign with Latino AmericansS.
Senate candidates, it's easy to support his decision, but on the issues that most affect the Latino community in Massachusetts, we think Edward Mackey is more committed to defending those issues than Republican candidate Gabriel Gomez.
The newspaper pointed out Ed Mackey's support for immigration reform, his support for Obamacare, his funding for education and health care, in particular, Gabriel Gomez was commended for supporting the right to abortion and the assault weapons ban, which Gabriel Gomez opposed.
A few weeks ago, Ed Mackey asked First Lady Michelle Obama to run for him.
Vice President Biden and former Vice President Gore held a fundraiser for him this week.
This week, President Obama met Ed Mackey in Roxbury, South Boston.
Former US president Bill Clinton will hold a market campaign rally in Worcester, Massachusetts tomorrow. people in Boston think, but Western people know that it is the central public.
Vice President Biden will then return again this week to run for Ed Mackey again.
So, Ed Mackey is good for a few weeks.
Two weeks before the election.
But you know, it's not all bad news for another Republican candidate.
Because today, Gabriel Gomez, because he just got Scott Brown from Massachusetts
Term Senator Scott Brown won a seat in a special election, but lost the election by eight points when he first had to defend it.
Until the last day of the game, Scott Brown finally told the Boston Globe yesterday that he would do everything he could to get Gabriel Gomez elected.
It needs.
If you 've been wondering what Scott Brown has been doing since Elizabeth Warren kicked Scott Brown out of the Senate-well, so have I.
It turns out it's still his Twitter page, which still says Scott Brown, the US Senate-no longer.
Right next to him, looking at a glowing white spot, Scott Brown tweeted a picture of himself on the flag tie, he said it was him, Governor of Constantine JC WattsGovernor --
Who is governor Constantine?
The next tweet is Scott Brown.
I see. it's not governor Constantine.
This is clearly the governor's regional director, and Scott Brown mistook him as the governor.
The real governor, he said, is not governor konstanch, but Governor mclowry.
Who is governor McGrory?
I never heard of Macquarie.
Next tweet, Scott Brown.
Oh, you mean, the governor of North o'maclory finally knew we were going to get there.
But you know what?
In the dust storm in Scott Brown's mind, there's something like this too-this ping must be very exciting for Gabriel Gomez to get his support right now.
If you miss those days, those days are back.
What does Scott Brown mean by this tweet?
Really, actually, don't bother me, I don't know, I'm just very, very looking forward to the US Senate campaign in Massachusetts on June 25. Whatever.
That's what it is for us tonight.
We'll see you again on Monday, but since it's Friday, you have to go to a particularly interesting prison tonight. Goodbye.
This is a report card in a hurry.
