"We will move to a place where my children can learn and learn, and they are all accepted by that country," Ahmed's father, Mohammed El Hassan Mohammed, told Dallas Morning News on Tuesday.
The boy's family issued a statement saying that they were invited by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development to join the foundation's youth innovators program.
The Foundation will pay for the boy's high school and university education in Doha.
Ahmed said he was impressed with the project and hoped he would "learn a lot too and have fun ".
Grade 9 students from Irving, Texas want to impress the teacher with his latest work.
So he put the clock in his schoolbag and brought it to school on September 14.
The device consists of a circuit board and a power supply connected to a digital display.
Ahmed spent about 20 minutes inventing the gadget.
However, when Ahmed showed the clock to his engineering teacher, the boy did not receive the response he expected.
According to The Dallas Morning Post, Ahmed recalled: "he said, 'This is really good. '".

Muslim biased Ahmed put the clock in his bag for the rest of the day.
But when the alarm clock rang in English class, the teacher complained: "It looks like a bomb.
Later, the principal and a policeman pulled him out and took him to a room where four other policemen were waiting.
The teenager was questioned by the police and threatened to expel him if he did not make a written statement.
Ahmed was taken to a juvenile detention center where he was photographed with fingerprints and mugs.
He was suspended from school for three days.
Police initially said Ahmed could face charges of making a "prank bomb", although he never told anyone it was a bomb.
Later, the police said they would not charge the boy for the manufacture of the equipment, adding that the case against him had ended.
However, the aspiring engineer vowed never to bring another invention to school.
His parents later dropped Ahmed out of school.
Muhammad's story prompted label IStandWithAhmed to move global with the support of ordinary people and technology company owners, including Google and Facebook.
"Having the skills and ambition to make cool things should bring applause, not arrest," Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote . ".
On Monday, Ahmed attended the "astronomical night" at the White House, where he had a brief conversation with President Barack Obama, and the boy said the story actually taught him a lesson: "Don't judge a person by his looks.
