You can spend a week in a broken mountain, but if you only have 48 hours, this is my choice. --Day 1--
* In order to find a handle on a broken Mountain in the morning, you need to know its mining heritage, and the best starting point is the Albert Kirsten Museum of Mining and minerals or the Tibetan Museum.
Despite its name, this is an engaging modern museum with interactive displays and excellent short films about how local ore is formed.
There are some strange and wonderful samples of crystals, a 42 kg silver block, and a silver tree, a complex table center at the end of 1800.

To replicate a ground down mine, the miner, Bussy White, was packed with souvenirs, old photos and models, as well as a mineral artwork from Bussey.

From mosaics to photos, you may encounter artists at work, such as Howard Steele, an artist of "flying doctor", and it is a pleasure to stop and chat.
From metal ants to edible inland feces, there is a wealth of art, jewelry and quirky collectibles at the Mint Art Center, the largest painting town in the world.

* Spend the evening at the Palace Hotel introduced in the movie "Desert Queen Priscilla.
Bars and restaurants are open from Tuesday to Saturday and the new owner has a new lease on life.
Admire the huge murals that decorate stairwells, corridors, and pavilions, and then have an eclectic chat with the locals and travelers in the bar through a snack platter before dinner.

* Having lunch in Grand or Thom in Charlotte in the afternoon, Dick and Harry are at Argent St and then drive to the desert flora and fauna preserve and sculpture walk about 9 km kilometers from town.
