He is a descendant of Slovak immigrants and grew up in a working-class suburb of Pittsburgh.
Warhol was interested in photography and painting from an early age and took free courses at Carnegie College.
He is the only family member to go to college. he entered Carnegie Institute of Technology (
Carnegie Melon University now)
He majored in painting design there in 1945.
After graduation, Warhol moved to New York with his classmate Philip pilstein.
He has found steady work as a commercial artist, working as an illustrator for several magazines including fashion, Harper's Bazaar and the New Yorker.
He also advertises and window displays for retail stores like bonwit Teller and I. Miller.
His first assignment was to write an article for Glamour magazine entitled "success is a job in New York.
"Throughout 1950s, Warhol enjoyed a successful career as a commercial artist, winning several praises from the Art Director's Club and the American School of Graphic Arts.
During this period, he shortened his name to "Warhol ".
In 1952, the artist held his first solo exhibition at the Hugo Gallery, displaying 15 paintings based on Truman Capote's works.
Later, Warhol's work was exhibited in more than 50 venues, including his first group exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in 1955.
In 1953, the artist produced his first illustrated book, Ais is the alphabet, love is a pink cake, and he gave it to his clients and colleagues.
As an illustrator, he founded Andy warholenterprés in 1957.
1960 marks a turning point in Warhol's prolific career.
He drew his first work based on comics and advertisements, zooming in the source image and transmitting it to his canvas with an opaque projector.
On 1961, Warhol displayed his paintings, advertisements, Xiao Wang, Superman, front and back and Superman, and Popeye on Saturday in the window of the Bonwit Teller department store.
Warhol used images in popular culture to create many 20-century paintings
