For more than a year, the city has promised dealers at the Anaheim motor center that it is a huge bright electronic logo, similar to the one that other car stores help attract business.
Dealers got what they wanted this week.
The city council approved spending nearly $200,000 for the sign, which should rise in 60 days.
"It will make a big difference," said Tony Lomax, manager of a dealership at the Auto Mall.
The city has been waiting to install the logo until more dealers have moved to the center, but the Anaheim motor center is installing the logo.
Dealers hope to sign faster.
They believe that this logo will help to increase the attractiveness of the center to customers and new dealers, both of which will bring more sales tax revenue to the city.
Since the opening of the city in 1986, three dealers have moved to the center of Ball Road and Orange highway, but there is still room for four dealers.
"I know there must be a sign in my own mind," said Dennis Harding, a part owner of a car dealership who will soon move to the mall.
"You really can't see this place without it.
"Before moving his dealer, he is waiting for some issues to be resolved, including the logo issue," Harding said.
He gave up a portion of his land to accommodate the sign, but he said it was a place worth exchanging.
