apple patents a crazy stylus that senses texture to make 3d files  -  digital drawing tablet with screen

Steve Jobs may hate the stylus, but Apple certainly has a lot of patents that will allow awesome styli to float around the USS.
Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Two recent patents detail an amazing future stylus that can analyze and react to different textures, create 3D images, and provide tactile feedback.
The first patent explains how Apple stylus uses tactile feedback to simulate the user's experience of drawing with a real writing tool on any surface selected by the tablet screen.
Apple has come up with several different ways to achieve accurate tactile feedback, all of which are detailed in the patent.
A possible approach involves a stylus with a contact sensor that can tell when the stylus touches the screen.
Another proposal suggests the use of capacitive sensors, pressure sensors, and cameras to determine the texture of the digital table and provide corresponding tactile feedback.
For example, photodiodes can be used to tell the texture displayed on the stylus screen, whether it's wood, paper, glass or fabric.

Like the surface, you don't feel any vibration, but if you draw a rough texture like a sharp stone, a strong fabric, or wood, you feel a stronger vibration.
The second patent explains how the stylus is used to capture the texture of a physical object and transfer it to an iPad or iPhone, and how the stylus is used to create a 3D CAD file.
In this patent, the tip of the stylus will be equipped with a camera module that can detect and record the physical texture of almost any object or surface.
Once the stylus records the texture, it sends it to the iPad or iPhone, and the drafters experience this specific texture on the screen.
Apple suggests several ways for a stylus to capture and transfer textures.
In many cases, the light bouncing from a textured object moves to a photo sensor via a sharp tip or lens of the wind.
The stylus then sends the texture data from the object to the iPad or iPhone to recreate the 3D rendering of the object's texture, color, and even shape.
Designers, 3D modelers, and other digital artists can create projects using data from stylus, or even 3D CAD files for animation and other art projects.
Obviously, it's not clear whether Apple will make this stylus a reality, but at least it's amazing.
