KITCHENER —
As Christie's responds to the changing market environment, Christie's digital has moved the production of some projectors from the kitchen to China.
In the past 12 months, global operations have been adjusted, resulting in two rounds of layoffs at the kitchen plant, affecting a total of 50 manufacturing technicians.
Public Relations Manager Dave Paolini said the kitchen staff has been stable at around 650 since the second round of layoffs in April, and said the company will continue to recruit engineering and design talent for local factories.
"We believe that taking the initiative to respond to industry changes will never end, but we are satisfied with the restructuring that has been successfully taken over the past year," he said . ".
Low sales of lamps
The US-based projector was previously considered a factor in kitchen layoffs, the first factor affecting production staff since Christie's acquired the former electric home projection system business in 1999.
At the same time, sales of laser projectors are also increasing, especially in Asia.

Currently, the production of projectors is underway in China.
Mass production of laser projectors has also moved to China, but the key high complexity
Components like laser optics remain in the kitchen.
"This is the core and soul of the laser projector," said Paolini . ".
Paolini added that the key task of designing and designing the next generation of laser projectors is best suited to Kitchener, "leveraging K-W area.
"Kitchener is keeping the production of the complex, high-dynamic range projector it built for Dolby.
Kitchener's team will also continue to develop process and automation equipment for mass production in China operations.
From an economic and efficiency perspective, it makes sense to adjust production, says Paolini.
According to a PwC study, the biggest demand for Christie's projectors is currently in Asia, only in China, with an average of more than 8,000 cinema screens per year over the past five years.
These initiatives are designed to best meet the needs of customers while making the most effective use of Christie's staff and facilities to keep the company competitive in "Fast competition"
"The rhythm and challenges of the global market," said Paolini . ".
