Christie's has signed an agreement with Global parks and resorts to provide projection technology, software and professional services to its theme parks and city walking entertainment centers in the United States.
The equipment and software will be produced at the Canadian Christie's digital system factory in Kitchener.
"People will go on vacation, but they will ask for a very immersive audio-visual experience," said Christie spokesperson Dave Paolini . ".
"We and Universal want their customers to leave their theme park and say 'Wow, it's an exciting one and --of-a-
Friendly experience.
"The ongoing agreement to name Christie as the official projection system provider for global Parks and Resorts is currently focusing on Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Resort Orlando and its associated urban walking complex.
In the future "dark rides" will use Christie's equipment, the theme park term for indoor rides.
Common examples at the moment include Transformers, Harry Potter and travel ban.
"They are looking forward to the future," said Paolini . ".
"We will develop projector solutions that will provide the best dark rides.
"GM has seen Christie's technology at private demonstrations and trade shows.
In addition to providing a customized projection system, Christie's software developers based in kidina will work with Global to adopt their ideas and make them a reality, he said.
Christie's expects to hire about six new software developers in the short term for projects including global partnerships.
