Acquired digital Display & Communications Inc. , a local digital signage company.
The company was founded in 1996 when Stuart Kirkpatrick acquired the audiovisual part of Fred Systems, a Waterloo company specializing in web marketing software.
Soon after, Harris joined Kirkpatrick as a partner.
At the beginning of the Internet business, it was still in its early stages.
That was the day when the computer modem screamed and muttered while dialing in the telephone line.
The digital display is very simple.
"You can send still photos through the integrated business digital network cable (
Switched Telephone services capable of transmitting voice and digital data)

Many changes have taken place since then.

"The emergence of powerful smartphones is changing the industry," Harris said.
To get prizes, coupons or deals, people can now interact with animated digital logos using their smartphones.
They may be linked to games that are part of a marketing campaign.
"I think gamification will become more important," Harris said . ".
The combination of digital signage and smartphones in the mall will help you navigate around the mall, find deals on goods you may be interested in, help you find your car after you leave the mall, he added.
"All of this is now part of the same digital ecosystem.
"Waterloo is a great place to develop this part of the Cineplex business.
