A Professional Manufacturer of Smart Interactive Screens For More Than 10 Years
There is a feeling at the Hayden Orpheum theater that the audience in the theater that night was meant to experience something unique.
Scheduled for the Sydney premiere of the feature film David Stratton: Film Life, followed by a Q & A session with Stratton and his long dragontime on-
Screen partner Margaret pomorlands, but even if there is no accompanying Q & A, it is thought that the atmosphere of love and support in the room will remain the same.
For more than 30 years, David Stratton's voice and criticism have been a central part of the Australian dining experience.
In this country, no film lover can honestly say that they have not seen David Stratton's view of the film at some stage.
Therefore, experiencing the documentary on the film screen is also a collective experience of reflecting on the audience's own participation in film discussions.
With his life as the narrative pillar of the documentary, through the experience of David Stratton, the life of a film links Australia's landmark films.
The film does not promise a comprehensive look at Australian films, but rather a carefully curated look at what Stratton thinks represents our national film culture.
In a conversation with SBS Film, Stratton explained that he was drawn to the unique structure of the film: "I don't know if there is another movie like this.
A film that combines film clips from well-known and not-so well-
Some of the famous films have interviewed film practitioners who are not talking about their films, but about films that affect their other people, as well as this personal journey.
I think it's an interesting combination.
"The Australian film is fantastic and has been around 40 years old.
We made some special films and I think it's a great opportunity to reflect on some of them.
Remind people of what we have done and what we have achieved ".
If you want to learn more about Stratton's private life from this movie, you won't get much from this movie.
It's not surprising for those familiar with Stratton, even if it's just by looking at him on the screen, he's a discreet person and doesn't like to see himself in the spotlight.
So much that he has not watched the film with the audience.
He said it was "very strange to watch his experience on the screen.
"I'm still not used to it.
I have seen the ending of this movie several times, because I have been doing Q & A all over the country, so I have watched the last ten minutes and I am still not used to seeing myself in this situation.
Watch the trailer: while watching the movie, the audience will leave the theater because they know how Stratton's lifelong passion for the film has brought him into conflict with his family, which breaks him down with his father
But what they will not see is anything related to the most protected part of his life.
There is no mention of his relationship with his wife in the film.
Stratton said it was not intentional.
"I don't want her . . . . . . We don't even want to talk about that relationship.
"I think it's private enough," he said . ".
His relationship with long
Times film critic Margaret pomorlands got some screen time, but even in the documentary it was a bit limited, except for the fact that with pomorlands laughing at Stratton in the clothing selection
It will be felt that these relationships are not important to Stratton, but are easier to internalize these considerations.
Stratton, describing his relationship with Pomeranz, defines the relationship as accurately as possible: "We are not close friends.
We are very different. we live far away from each other, so we can't go further.
We occasionally meet at preview screenings.
We have lunch occasionally.
Something like this.
But we were never close friends.
When he was pushed, he calmly agreed that his relationship with Pomeranz was actually a friendship. “Well, it is.
Yes, this is friendship.
Stratton gave up the role of reviewing the film on TV every week with Pomeranz, who spoke bluntly about the rise of special effects --
The superhero movie he's barely interested in is a contributing factor.
Most of the stories are told in the middle.
Now, it is thought that Stratton may be more attractive to television than he previously expressed.
He was not interested in the appearance of TV at all.
"I like to watch political shows on TV like Insiders on Sunday morning.
I like some political shows on SBS.
"I don't like to watch drama on TV very much.
Although everyone told me it was the future of the film, I found that in general, the format of the TV series is six hours, and I think the filmmakers are from the small films I have seen, and I see very little, use it in a very indulgent way and fill in the material in a way that people who make feature films will never dream.
I think it's a bit boring.
"I looked at a few and then gave up," he revealed . ".
Some great viewers like Steven Soderbergh are now moving to TV, does Stratton feel like he's missing something like "I might be ["]laughs]
But maybe he didn't do it for the cinema and probably missed something.
"Want to be in (cinema)
The curtains are a bit, it's hard not to be fascinated by the way Stratton watches movies.
As mentioned in the movie, Stratton tries to watch a movie every day.
Stratton spoke proudly of his home equipment with a home projector systemup.
"I have a very good home theater with big screens, open curtains and dim lights.
So this is a great movie experience.
"This is a great way to watch movies," Stratton revealed . ".
As Australia's censorship continues, Stratton is still traveling regularly to Sydney to watch movies.
"I don't particularly like it, but that's exactly what I have to do," he said . ".
The proportion of movies seen at home or at screening is 50/50, which keeps Stratton away from the normal cinema.
"I haven't bought a ticket for a long time," Stratton said with a smile . ".
David Stratton: Film Life was released nationwide in March 9.
