District commuters and politicians on social media on Tuesday attacked a new toll-taking plan, which took place on a busy interstate highway, from Virginia to the capital, along the way.

The Virginia Department of Transport promoted the project as a "new and improved travel option" for commuters, but did not respond to multiple requests for comment from Fox News on Tuesday.
