District commuters and politicians on social media on Tuesday attacked a new toll-taking plan, which took place on a busy interstate highway, from Virginia to the capital, along the way.

But stickers attached to electronic signs along the road shocked the price, causing some commuters and residents to give the road a new nickname.

The Virginia Department of Transport promoted the project as a "new and improved travel option" for commuters, but did not respond to multiple requests for comment from Fox News on Tuesday.
Toll starts at 5: 30 a. m. m. to 9:30 a. m.
Eastbound local time, 3: 00m. to 7 p. m. westbound.
Drivers are free at all other times.
