Setting up a video screen along Lincoln Alexander Avenue instead of a middle hurdle is a short
A mountain resident who advocated safer links and Red Valley Roads said it was a visionary idea.
"Distracted driving can lead to more and more accidents, but we will post billboards because we will be paid," said Sarah Warry.
Poljanski has been working with the families of the victims on two highways.
Last year, Hamilton City signed a lease agreement with outdoor media to allow the company to erect digital billboards on public land in 12 locations, including three locations along Linc.
The deal is worth $500,000 a year, plus a signing bonus of $100,000.
Security and community issues were considered prior to council approval.
In a report to the City Council last month, staff rejected the median barrier as a safety improvement.
Martin White, traffic operations manager, said that in order to improve the safety of the two highways, the city will install a "cat's eye" reflector and shoulder rumble strip on the road.
But he said Intermediate obstacles do not reduce collisions, it would be too expensive to install them now, and if the highway expands to six lanes, they must be removed later.
According to the staff, the cross-collision accounted for a small part of the overall collision, about 5 cents on Lincoln Alexander Avenue and about 3 cents on Red Mountain.
However, half of the more than a dozen deaths on the two roads were caused by cross-accidents. Warry-
Poljanski said the commission appears to be more concerned about collecting speeding fines through photo radar than actually enforcing the law or taking steps to reduce crashes.
She said she wanted the Department of Transport to supervise Linc and Red Hill, and then add an extra lane in each direction, along with concrete intermediate obstacles.
"The City Council seems unable to supervise the highway," she said . ".
She noted that the Department of Transport is widening Highway 401 and adding concrete barriers between London and Windsor, which many call "Holocaust Lane ".
Because construction must wait until after the environmental assessment is completed, the province will install cable barriers along that section of 401 during this period. "High-
The tension cable barrier will strengthen the safety of this highway, which has been proven in many other jurisdictions, including Michigan, "Transport Minister Catherine McGarry said in a statement last month.
"MTO said, 'We know it helps and we know it saves lives.
No matter what causes people to cross the road or have an accident, "Warry said --Poljanski.
