Amaker, a software company used to sync and share files in the cloud, agreed to acquire HelloSign for $0. 23 billion in cash to add tools for digital signing contracts and documents.
HelloSign, with more than 80,000 customers including instacart Inc. and Lyft Inc.
Will continue to operate independently.
San Francisco-
Dropbox-based companies have already used a product in Dropbox, and the two companies will try to make more Dropbox users choose HelloSign to get documents that need to be signed.
The deal is expected to end this quarter.
"The deal makes sense from a strategic point of view for two reasons: 1)
HelloSign seems to be a positive complement to business product sales; and, 2)
RBC Capital Markets analyst Mark Sweeney wrote in a note to investors on Monday: "This acquisition offers a potential opportunity to further expand corporate sales and win more customer walletsDocuSign Inc. and Adobe Inc.

Customers can embed the HelloSign software into the website, or include the toolkit in the documents that employees and customers need to fill in.
Instacart, for example, organizes thousands of individual stores to pick and ship groceries for customers, using HelloSign to help people complete the forms they need to join Instacart more quickly.
HelloSign is also working on a way to replace PDF-
Portable Document Format created by Adobe as, no matter what other software or hardware the customer uses, the document and its format can be displayed. PDF is ill-
HelloSign's chief executive, Joseph Walla, said he was perfect for checking and filling out forms on his phone.
"Millions of people are still using pens and paper to sign important documents, or use workflows with a wide range of these steps," Dropbox CEODrew Houston saidin said in an interview . ".
He said the product is very in line with the goal of Dropbox to help employees share, edit and manage files.
Hellosign was founded in the early 20 th century-
YCombinator, a stage venture capital company.
Dropbox is also one of YCombinator's projects for young tech companies.
Walla said he met Houston there and still spoke to alumni and current founder groups.
HelloSign investors include casting Group and Greylock Partners.
