This year, the Lexington Education Foundation provided a $342,101 grant to support initiatives in local schools.
Officials say the total amount of money raised through private donations and retail and corporate sponsorship is 11% more than the non-profit organization's grant last year.
Most of the money, about $280,000 will support education programs, while about $30,000 will be spent on summer scholarships and about $32,000 will be spent on smaller programs
