Some of Britain's most prominent companies have responded to the controversy over extremist content on Google's You Tube platform.
They said: "In order to ensure brand safety, we suspended activities on Google's platform while this matter was resolved.
"So far we don't know if there is any problem with our ads, but we take this issue very seriously and suspend all ads until they fix it.
"HSBC has developed strong procedures to ensure that our brand is not relevant to inappropriate content and does not advertise.
"We take any violation of our digital advertising standards very seriously and suspend advertising with Google at this time.
"We have a strict process to prevent our ads from coming along with inappropriate online content.
"It's unacceptable that Google allows our ads to be put together with these videos on Youtube.
"We have immediately suspended all ads for Sainsbury and Argos on the site and are seeking urgent assurances from Google that the issue is being taken seriously and addressed.
"We are disappointed to learn that the safeguards we have put in place to prevent advertising from appearing next to unacceptable content have expired.
"We are now seeking assurances from Google about how they can improve their filters to make sure this doesn't happen in the future.
"While we have these discussions, all the ads through this channel have been deleted immediately.
"Once we learned about this issue with Google advertising, we immediately suspended all of our YouTube campaigns as a precaution.
"We found it completely unacceptable to see Audi in these situations.
"Advertising is obviously unacceptable to appear next to inappropriate content, and we are talking to Google to find out what they are doing to stop this.
"We immediately suspended all YouTube ads.
Before advertising on YouTube, we will have a full review and make sure that our ads will only run on the appropriate YouTube videos.
