THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city will have an outdoor advertising policy designed to liberate the streets and extend from the maze of paddocks and arches.
This policy will refer to the Delhi outdoor advertising policy formulated by Delhi Municipal Corporation.
The Chief Secretary for Administration, Ji Thomson, has instructed officials of various departments to sort out the information and finalize the policy.
Once this is done, advertising must be agreed upon in accordance with the provisions of the policy.
The Delhi outdoor advertising policy is rooted in the Supreme Court order issued on 1997, which states that the safety of road users is of vital importance, and these are the dangerous billboards that interfere with safe traffic movements, traffic on the road can see these vehicles and need to be removed.
"We are collecting data based on global research and practice and the data mentioned at the Indian road conference.
This policy will be based on the policy that Delhi is following, "a high-Formal appointment
This policy will be based primarily on the correlation between distraction and driving caused by outdoor advertising.
The study has established connections and found an increase in accidents at or near "visual confusion" intersections.
Usually, an accident occurs due to less than two seconds of attention, and visual distraction caused by hoarding can further result in three seconds.
The Delhi outdoor advertising policy inhibits visual confusion by increasing space between billboards and limiting the choice of urban areas for large billboards, such as business centers.
Billboards are also banned on sidewalks, and large billboards are completely banned on major city main roads such as the ring road.
Inputs from India's National Highway Administration, PWD and City companies are also being collected to develop policies.
According to the policies of the city plan, Billboard categories and factors concerning color, shape, light source and brightness should be included.
It will also have self
Regulation prohibiting the display of negative advertisements such as nudity, obscenity or racism.
Other factors, such as the nature of the wind, the soil carrying capacity, and the electrical connection of the place where the roof is built, will also be considered.
Recently, an arch placed by the local autonomous government department fell off the sidewalk.
This policy is expected to be finalized by July.
