Federal Heritage Minister Melani Jolli, who is working to find the intersection of art and technology, is prepared to develop modern laws for the broadcasting, media and cultural industries of the Internet age.

"I wanted to come here because I heard some good news about Kitchener --
"Waterloo," said Jolly, sipping latte while watching the Smiling Tiger coffee bakery on Clarence Street.
"I want to know about the world's creative center --
"How do we have more creative centers and strengthen them," said Joly . ".
In 2017, she said, the federal free government plans to introduce new ways to strengthen the production and export of Canadian culture.
Joly did not talk about the minimum content regulations and protection of the cultural industry.
Instead, she talks about supporting innovation at the fertile ground junction of art and technology, which will promote cultural exports.
She said her visit to Christie's confirmed her belief that the right combination of hardware, software, and content produced a world --class business.
Christie's is a global leader in digital projectors and sound systems.
"The company's innovation capabilities over the years have been surprising," says Joly . ".
"And it's still innovating.
"A key part of the free election platform in 2015 is developing the economy and creating the middle class --class jobs.
The new cultural strategy, according to Jolly, is the way to achieve this goal.
As a lawyer entering communication and municipal affairs in Montreal, Jolly watched the city become one of the top three in the world to make computer games.
The industry's average annual salary is $71,000.
"We really believe that there is growth potential, investment potential and employment potential through investing in the creative industry," said Joly . ".
In the past, music, books, movies and television dominated the cultural landscape.
Virtual reality, augmented reality, design, architecture, fashion and video games have become the mainstream culture today.
Christie's is a perfect example of the connection between art, culture, creativity and technology, she said.
"They will also enter the content industry and become the front end of the production chain," said Joly . ".
"I think it's very interesting because we're now seeing content driving the use and development of technology.
On January, she announced the establishment of an advisory committee composed of a representative of a Canadian Culture Company operating or exporting in China.
The group includes Cirque du Soleil and Sheridan College, which has one of the best animated programs in the world.
The mission of the group is to ensure Canadian companies and organizations in China
Strive for greater market share.
"This is something we are very interested in helping," said Joly . ".
Over the past 10 months, the federal Department of Heritage has held town hall meetings across Canada and on-line forums.

These consultations will inform the new cultural strategy to be launched next year.
As part of the consultation, Jolly visited three technical centers in kidina.
"I was very impressed with what I saw here," Joly said . ".
