The Carlton District School Board strives to ensure that school buildings are located where they are needed.

Admission is not the problem. Last year J. H.
Puttman is close to the ability of 340 students in grades 6 to 8.
However, the school is in trouble with the "accommodation review" covering 26 schools in the West End.
A staff report suggested closing seven schools and changing the curriculum and grade configuration of many other schools.
The trustee also made a policy decision to eliminate the school.
This may take some time, but the plan is to expand high school to grade 7 to grade 12, or to expand primary school to grade 8, squeezing out middle and junior high schools.
Board staff said the latest educational research showed that students would perform better if they had fewer transfers.

A staff report says it gives students more time to develop deeper friendships and build closer ties with the school community.
The board is located in longfield s-davidson Heights Middle School in Barrhaven and now has grades 7 to 12.
Trustee Donna Blackburn said she had not received a complaint about grade configuration and that the students liked several gyms and a theater.
Some parents of middle school students doubt this.

Staff advised Leslie Park students to be transferred from seventh grade to Briargreen PS and then to Sir Robert Boden high school.
It is difficult to generalize the educational value of secondary schools, said Charles Pascal, professor at the Ontario Institute of Education at the University of Toronto, former deputy minister of education of Ontario.
All school transitions should be managed with care, he said, whether children meet new teachers, adapt to more challenging classes, or start with a new school.

The committee's report recommends that J. H.
Depending on where they live and what programs they sign up for, Puttman students are sent to Agincourt, Woodgrove, or Pinecrest schools.
Some parents say sending their children back to primary school will be a step behind. J. H.
Parents Hillary Wright said Putman has been set to accommodate students from grades 6 to 8, from the library to the newly renovated tennis court, with her son Jonas in Grade 7.
If the school is closed, Jonas will be sent to the PS in 8 th grade of achincourt and then to the 9 th grade Woodgrove High School.
"Akkincott is a great school, but it's already crowded and suitable for kids," Wright said . ".

Computers are available in all classrooms and digital projectors and cameras are available.
The school has wheelchair access and an elevator on the second floor.
The school has a large campus with football fields, baseball fields, picnic tables for outdoor lunch and tennis courts.
Last year's club activities included student union;

Skiing clubs, talent shows, improvisation;
Creative Lab, go girl, game, action leader, Puttman Grand Slam Poetry Association, Voice of Pumas blog, on-campus and on-campus sports including cross-school sports

The school opened on 1961.
