According to the instructions of the ministry, all public service vehicles registered on and after January 1, 2019 must have vehicle locations installed-
Tracking equipment and emergency buttons.
"Public transport vehicles must have an AIS 140 standard GPS system installed.
While the department has exempted all public service vehicles registered as of December 31, 2018 from installing vehicle location tracking devices and emergency buttons, the KSRTC will install the system in its general fleet.
"Keltron had earlier installed GPS on about 750 buses, which is different from the system directed by the ministry," said an official at the KSRTC . ".
