A Professional Manufacturer of Smart Interactive Screens For More Than 10 Years
People have been sitting in the dark for 50 years, staring at the Dome --
The styling ceilings and techniques of the Launceston Planetarium did not change much during that time.
Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (QVMAG)
The planetarium was obtained from the University of tazhou in 1968, and after these years it still attracted a large number of people.
Martin George, manager of the Planetarium, said, "The whole idea is that the machine projects light spots on the dome representing the starry sky ".
Mr. George said that when the dome room was first installed, it was a temporary structure compared to today.
"I think that's a cloth dome on the stage, it's much smaller than the one we're using now," said Mr George . ".
"It ran for a while, but people realized that it was important to have a dedicated dome space.
Eventually, the dome was replaced by a permanent fiberglass dome.
Richard Mulvaney, head of QVMAG, said that when the planetarium was installed, interest in space exploration was enormous.
"At the time, there was a lot of interest in space, so the idea of having a planetarium in your museum must be very exciting," Mr Mulvaney said . ".
"Not everyone can go to the moon and so on the Apollo mission, but the planetarium makes it possible for everyone to go into space in that sense --
That's why it's still relevant.
"When it first opened in 1968, standing in a dark room, there were three brothers from the west coast of tazhou who were eagerly watching and interested in space.
Simon, Michael and Philip Dilger return to the museum to commemorate the 50-year-old
The first anniversary, but this time, when they returned to 1968, they did not live with their grandmother.
"I remember the planetarium and the dome and the way the auditorium was set up, but I don't know much about the show," said Michael deerger . ".
"I don't think that's how we came to the opening ceremony of the planetarium;
I think we were there that day by accident.
"The invitation may surprise the brothers, but they are very pleased with their decision to return to the museum.
"It's funny and a little exciting, I think they [QVMAG]
"Probably as much as we did," said Mr Dilger . ".
Although the concept and basic design of the Planetarium have not changed, the original projector is now an exhibition in the museum.
"You think about how big the technology and changes have been over the last 50 years, but we are still using Zeiss projectors and it does give us an absolutely precise and clear view of the night sky," said Mr muwani.
"The projector is part of our history and that is why we are so eager to keep it, after all we are a museum and it is important to have artifacts in our museum.
"Mr George believes that the planetarium is still relevant and there is nothing that matches its ability to project the night sky.
"The planetarium dome is now also used for things other than astronomy," he said . ".
"People have realized that they are great visualization tools that can look at images of the human brain, for example, and put them around you.
"The best thing about the planetarium, of course, is that it doesn't present the night sky like anything else.
