led projector lamp v.1.0 - projector lamp

led projector lamp v.1.0 - projector lamp

My first video projector. Ever.
Last year I met a cheap Toshiba TLP T70M projector on some Electronicsbay wanna-
Right here in Romania.
It has no lights at all except for normal work (
Probably the salesman told me).
I changed it to the shuttle in my closet and the projector was delivered a few days later.
I was surprised that it was in good condition and I was looking forward to cracks and scratches and it didn't.
I opened it-predictably -
After about two minutes, the "lights are gone" LED lights up.
The projector is automatically turned off at this time.
During these two minutes, I looked at the lens with a small flashlight and saw the boot screen where the bulb should be.
Yes, it's running.
I opened Google.
Everything I can find about this projector
I saw the full Toshiba TLP T70M User Manual (
It didn't when I received it)
This is all.
At this point I didn't really decide what to do, I would love to buy a bulb for this model and use it as anyone should.
On the other hand, I was shocked by the huge price of the projector bulb and obviously I had to find another light source.
I'm starting to think about it.
This is the obvious choice, but the problem is the light output.
The projector has 2000 lumens in the "eco-
Mode "has 1000 lumens.
I was aiming at his lower figure because I wouldn't use the projector during the day anyway.
So my goal is the LED light of 1000 lumens.
Insert a few weeks of random ideas and meaningless calculations here.
Rather, it is laziness.
I decided to buy the most powerful led I could get and try to use it as a light source in the projector.
None of this has been destroyed and no irreversible changes have been made to the projector.
Google search and found that I was on the power led (
Here in Romania)was a Cree MC-
E m, star, white, 752 lumens output, 4 tablets, 110 degrees (light beam).
I would like the Lumen level of OSRAM OSTAR to be 1000 but the dealer is not able to provide it.
In eco mode, the original projector lamp has 2000 lumens and 1000 lumens.
I think if I get close to that ecosystem
This mode may be available in my small apartment.
The rated power of this LED is 50.
000 hours of working hours are considered to be equivalent to 75 w incandescent lamps.
I also ordered a constant current power supply of 700 mA to power it.
This rated DC output voltage is up to 30 V @ 700 mA and is powered by the power grid (220V AC here).
Once the project is successful, I plan to hide it in the projector.
But enough daydream.
The first step is to fool the electronics into thinking that the lights are already there so that the projector can work properly and get rid of the automatic shutdown.
A few days later, I found a French website on Google about the same topic.
As it turns out, all I have to do is find a logical signal to rise (5V)
The first two minutes and below (GND)
Just before the LED missing indicator turns on.
I finally found it with a multimeter.
By pulling this signal up (
Simple wire jumper attached to the 5 v power supply I found on the board)
Normally, it starts to think that the light is already there and turned on.
I connected a laptop and when holding the same flashlight inside the projector, check whether the movie is playing by watching the lens. Yes!
I'm glad I did that, I don't have that much experience with electronics, and I'm afraid I'll end up stuck at this stage.
I ordered the LED and used a radiator for the old Pentium I.
I have to make sure the LED bulb is suitable due to space issues.
This radiator is the only option.
The LED is mounted on a small star radiator, so I drilled two holes for the screw in the Pentium radiator to secure it firmly in place.
The northern silver 5 thermal compound was used between these parts.
LED after wiring (
4 chips must be connected in series first)
I took a flashlight as a mirror.
Inside I put a 45 degree matte lens and I also ordered it to make the light more focused and even as these four chips are not a single light source but four
I also used the two PCB boards I cut to make the bottom and top of the bulb.
This is needed to make sure the bulbs don't move inside, so I cut them into the exact shape of the existing space.
The bulb is powered using a constant current supply of 700 mA.
As each chip needs 3.
The measurement output of 5 V @ 700 mA is 14 V @ 700 mA. That’s 9. 8 Watts. . .
My mind immediately told me that it was not enough. But we’ll see.
Anyway, it is well below the maximum 30 V of this power supply output.
I'm a little concerned about the heat, but the radiator is barely warming due to the built-in heat
In fan, this projector already has the function of cooling the bulb.
In this photo you can see the light bulb and the Flash makes its beam look weak, but trust me it will be strong and dazzling if you look directly at it.
In fact, it is not recommended to do so.
I installed the bulb inside and proved to fit perfectly.
I used the original bulb mounting hole.
As you can see, the first test is really disappointing.
This projector is LCD. type (
Different from better DLP)
It turns out that half of the LED light output is consumed when anything is displayed.
This is not what I expected.
I think it is because of lack of experience and knowledge.
I was disappointed to find this.
I can watch avatar in a completely dark room, but the dark scene is too dark.
As you can see, a scene full of light is almost visible, but that's it.
Obviously, I need at least double the light.
750 is far from enough.
Also, I suspect only half of them arrive on the screen and there is no deluxe table.
Still, it's fun to play with the projector for the first time.
I like it and I am determined to use it.
It's time to get back to the drawing.
In the same small space, I need more power and more light.
Months have passed and I am still looking for better LED.
I decided to try the second version of this bulb.
This will use a 9 x NS6W183T Nichia LED array.
At least 225 lumens per set, I should have more light than lumens on 2000.
I would be happy if 1000 lumens arrived at my projection screen, which is the "eco-mode" I would like ".
The main problem with this attempt is that I have to keep the light source as small as possible while focusing it on a 3x3 cm small Fresnel lens inside the projector.
Oh, there must be 5x9 cm space for the entire LED bulb.
Small spaces for severe power and about 35 watts of dissipated heat.
But I will not give up.
Keep an eye on my next instructions on v2.
0 Once 9 led arrays are ready.
Now we are about to have children, so it can be ready for everything else.
