British highways have announced that fuel prices at service stations will be advertised on British highways for the first time.
The electronic sign, which will be launched on March 29, will show the fuel price on the m5 south lane.
Five service stations
Gordano, Sedgemoor, River Bridge, Townsend and Ike-are involved.
If seen as a success, it can be promoted on the highway network.
Road minister Andrew Jones said: "The trial will give drivers a better understanding of fuel costs and make it easier to rest around the cheapest trading plan. "Andrew Page-
Dove, from the British highway, said: "This trial is an important part of a wider range and we want road users to be more informed and to have better control over their journey.
"It means they will be better prepared, more inclined to plan the break and have enough fuel.
"The plan will continue until the end of 2017, when the British highway will decide whether the project can be promoted to other regions.
