Windows 10 IoT Core Service Windows 10 IoT Core is a version of Windows 10, designed to build smart devices and optimized for smart edge devices.
Companies like Johnson Controls, Askey and Misty Robotics have already adopted the technology.
The newly released Windows IoT Core service enables partners to commercialize secure IoT devices.
The Windows 10 IoT Core service is a paid service for IoT devices.
It is worth mentioning that the free version of Windows 10 IoT Core can still be passed by halfChannel of year (SAC).
Microsoft cited three major advantages of Windows IoT core services.
This includes 10 years of long-term support for Windows operating systems through Windows
Regular service channels (LTSC)
, Update control using the device Update Center (DUC)
Certificate of equipment health (DHA). With the 10-
The Windows operating system is supported for one year and it ensures high quality updates to keep the device safe and up to date.
Devices that use the LTSC version will not receive a feature update.
This helps the device to focus on stability by minimizing changes to the basic operating system.
Typically, Microsoft offers a new LTSC version every two to three years, each with 10-year lifecycle.
Update control and newly announced equipment Update Center (DUC)
Provides the ability to create and customize device updates.
Updates are distributed by the same content distribution network (CDN)
Update with Windows.
Updates can be applied to operating systems, device drivers, and OEM-specific files.
In addition, updates can be sent to test devices before a wider distribution.
Certificate of equipment health (DHA)
Allows Enterprise and OEMs to enhance the security of their organizations through hardware
Proof of safety.
DHA evaluates the credibility of the device at startup.
DHA services are able to assess device health and can be combined with device management systems such as Azure IoT device management.
From there, users can take actions such as denying network access, creating service tickets, and re-accessing
Image of the device.
New IoT partner community new smart edge partner community enables partners to connect with each other in order to discover opportunities, collaborate on technological innovation and share business goals in the forumlike setting.
In addition, community members will be able to attend training sessions, community events, and participate in the early adop program by accessing operating system build, specs, documentation, and certification details.
