The space center at Independence Square in Houston is NASA's original space shuttle.
Known for its tail NASA 905, the modified Boeing 747 jet was first used in a test in late 1970 to prove that the orbiter can safely return to Earth.
It then ships the shuttle to all parts of the United States, returns to Florida from the landing site, and serves two missions.
