Primary school teachers in the Durham area can start booking trips to the children's safety village to help their students live on two streetsand fire-safe.
The newly expanded site now includes a fire safety section that allows the local fire department to teach important lessons in a new interactive classroom with a full kitchen, living room and bathroom with function to simulate fire and emergency.
The expansion also includes larger restrooms, community meeting facilities and accessibility facilities throughout the space.
Ron Mortson, a village board member, said in a press release: "I am very excited about the expansion and renovation of our children's safe village . ".
"Over the past 20 years, thousands of children have benefited from lessons learned from safety in the village.
The addition of the new second classroom and fire safety section will make it a more valuable resource for our community.
"Located on the grounds of Sir William Stephenson Public School, 1129 Atholl Street.
