Parents reacted angrily after a school installed CCTV cameras in the toilet.
The measure aims to combat bullying and vandalism.
But it is described as "invasive" and "creepy ".
The camera appears to be right above the boy's urinal and the girl's cubicle.
A mother, who had a son and daughter in grade 9 of Summer Hill School in kingsvenford, West Midlands, said: "It caused a lot of trouble, some of the parents on Summerhill Facebook posted photos of the camera in the toilet, one that looked like it was hanging in the girls' cubicle, and the other on the lady's urinal.
"My children refused to go to the toilet at school and they felt they were being watched.
"They said, 'Can we call you and take us home to the toilet? '?
This is absolutely crazy.
"Some people say this is to prevent bullying and vandalism, but they can certainly arrange for a governor to be on duty during the break or in the teacher's toilet, and they don't need to video the child in the toilet.
"Many parents are asking for video now.
Another mother said, "My son is back and says he doesn't want to go to the toilet.
It's shocking that there may be problems in the toilet, but they certainly can't.
"One of my friends said that her daughter was tearful when she came home because she was too afraid to go to the toilet all day and almost got wet in class.
This is so disturbing and creepy.
Another added: "My daughter has now said she's 'Holding it, 'not going to the toilet and she's not the only one to say that. . . I'm disgusted!
Schools serving 1,016 11-year-old students
16. after the Ofsted inspection in last November, a "need to improve" rating was obtained.
Executive principal James Bowkett said: "Over the years, we have installed CCTV in various places of the school, allowing us not only to monitor the behavior of students, but also to protect the school
Ensure the safety of everyone in our community.
"After some disappointing behavior by our students, we decided to extend the network of cameras to these areas, where they did not maintain our high standards of conduct.
"I have to stress that this is for us to be able to monitor who is going in and out of the public toilet, and I can assure parents and children that there is no camera aimed at sensitive areas, including compartments or urinals.
