Frank Shaw has made great achievements since he started his hairstyle 20 years ago.
He owns two salons in Waterloo, a school of Hair Design in kidina, and recently sold his first franchise.
His company, Voila Salon & Spa, employs more than 50 employees and his school attracts more than 50 students every year.
His salon offers a full range of services, from hair extensions and highlights to exfoliating treatments and seaweed body massages.
For an entrepreneur who has spent most of his career expanding his business, it is surprising to hear that his main challenge now is to stay small.
Losing contact with employees is one of the biggest concerns of little siu.
"I don't want to be too corporate," he said . "
While the franchise route seems to be very corporate, it fits perfectly with Xiao's philosophy.
"Pride of ownership is irreplaceable in the salon," he said . ".

His initial goal was to be a graphic designer, but when the project he wanted to sign up for had a waiting list, his wife Jackie suggested that he go with her to a local hair Academy.
His first job after graduation was at the Voila salon at 228 King Street. N. in Waterloo.
His salary began to rise within three months, so he offered to help with bookkeeping.

He said of the location of the residential area: "The customer is queuing for the chair . ".
He rented the North Gate building and the university campus, but owned the Voila residential building.
Wearing stylish jeans, dark sports jackets and light blue shirts, Siu exudes a quiet confidence and charm as he visits the salon in Voila residential area.
He prefers to lead by example rather than loud cheerleaders and histrionics.
Although the starting point for employees is close to the minimum wage, the income of employees with more than three years of work experience is far higher than the industry average, he said.
Five employees have more than 10 years of experience and some others are approaching 10 years, he added.
Xiao siu admitted that the recession affected business.
"We have to work harder"

"Being able to adapt to many different lifestyles and needs of today's clients, including faster appointments, a wider range of hairstyles and a full-service spa, is the main change he has noticed in his business.
When asked about the reasons for Voila's success, Siu quoted the company's mission statement.
