Frank Shaw has made great achievements since he started his hairstyle 20 years ago.
He owns two salons in Waterloo, a school of Hair Design in kidina, and recently sold his first franchise.
His company, Voila Salon & Spa, employs more than 50 employees and his school attracts more than 50 students every year.
His salon offers a full range of services, from hair extensions and highlights to exfoliating treatments and seaweed body massages.
For an entrepreneur who has spent most of his career expanding his business, it is surprising to hear that his main challenge now is to stay small.
Losing contact with employees is one of the biggest concerns of little siu.
"I don't want to be too corporate," he said . "
While the franchise route seems to be very corporate, it fits perfectly with Xiao's philosophy.
"Pride of ownership is irreplaceable in the salon," he said . ".

He works in the on-site office and call center at 420 Weber Street. N. in Waterloo.
In order for him to have more time to stay away from the salon to manage the business and to spend time with his two children, the office also handles appointment calls for all the salons so that employees can concentrate
Hard work, passion, lean management and careful growth seem to be the key to Xiao's success.
His initial goal was to be a graphic designer, but when the project he wanted to sign up for had a waiting list, his wife Jackie suggested that he go with her to a local hair Academy.
His first job after graduation was at the Voila salon at 228 King Street. N. in Waterloo.
His salary began to rise within three months, so he offered to help with bookkeeping.
Three months later, he borrowed $15,000 from his father to become a part-time boss.
Now looking back, light rain put all
Immersed in the vitality of youth
"I think there are a lot of things I can improve.

The salon lost money in the early days, but Siu and Jackie, with the help of their employees, paid very little for themselves and made a lot of renovations themselves, thus saving money.

He rented the North Gate building and the university campus, but owned the Voila residential building.
Wearing stylish jeans, dark sports jackets and light blue shirts, Siu exudes a quiet confidence and charm as he visits the salon in Voila residential area.
He prefers to lead by example rather than loud cheerleaders and histrionics.
Although the starting point for employees is close to the minimum wage, the income of employees with more than three years of work experience is far higher than the industry average, he said.
Five employees have more than 10 years of experience and some others are approaching 10 years, he added.
Xiao siu admitted that the recession affected business.
"We have to work harder"
Outs, website marketing, and excellent service can keep customers and recruit new customers, but Voila "lives relatively well," he said ".
"Being able to adapt to many different lifestyles and needs of today's clients, including faster appointments, a wider range of hairstyles and a full-service spa, is the main change he has noticed in his business.
When asked about the reasons for Voila's success, Siu quoted the company's mission statement.
The goal is to "enrich the lives of everyone we touch.
