The old Texas boy was arrested and detained on Monday because the teachers mistakenly thought the homemade electronic clock he brought to school was a bomb.
Ahmed Mohammed, a ninth grade student at Irving MacArthur High School, was suspended for three days.
Police initially said he might face charges of building a scam bomb, but later said the case had been closed without charges.
Police admitted that Ahmed insisted to teachers, principals and police that his creation was not a clock.

When the story began to circulate on Twitter on Tuesday night, many questioned the teacher's and police's reaction to Ahmed Zhong and sympathized with his story.
Linda Moreno, a lawyer representing Ahmed, said the family was considering legal action against the police after the police questioned, handcuffed, searched, booked and gave fingerprints to the teenagers.
Ahmed plans to transfer to another school, and the family is considering legal action against police, according to The Associated Press.
