TransLink is considering installing billboards on some of its properties to increase revenue.
Spokesman Ken Hardie said the transportation authority is exploring the concept of selling static and electronic billboard ads to see if it is worth working with local municipalities.
TransLink has raised at least $9 million a year by advertising on its properties, such as buses.
"It helps us maintain the system," he said . "
"If there is new media, we can use it to improve the system in which people do not pay taxes or fares.
He said he had no idea where the billboard would go or how much money he could make from the billboard.
