LipSyncs allows disabled people to use a mouth-only smartphone or tablet.
In the sunny little building of CrashBang Labs in Regina, nearly 20 volunteers gathered on Thursday to make devices for disabled people to use their smartphones or tablets with their mouths only
Volunteers gather around the table and use the soldering iron to connect the necessary wires to the arduino Control Boardby-
Instruction Manual for steps.
After completion, the circuit is put into its 3D print body.
These devices are called LipSyncs.
"We did some practice in welding because many of us have not done it before.
I think I probably haven't welded it in the eighth grade, "says one of the volunteers, Elin Landon.
"I'm a little unstable, but it's good," she said . ".
"We can make these and then disabled people who need them can use it, so it's really cool.
"The event was organized by Neil Squire social project" the manufacturer who made the change.
Kevin Smith, regional cooperation
On the Prairie, the coordinator who made the change for the manufacturer said he had done some "construction"a-
All of this is to create assistive technologies for the disabled. “I gave three (LipSyncs)

Rehabilitation Center)
Because they said that we have disabled people here, but they will not be disabled.
"They will recover," he said . "
"It doesn't make sense to buy $1,000, $1,500 items for them, but they can use them because they are free.

The construction cost of PostThe equipment is about $250, Smith said, but the manufacturer making the change is trying to find sponsors to pay for the cost of the parts so they can donate the equipment to those who need them
He said about 17 LipSyncs should be completed during the event and he will take some of them to Saskatoon's rehab center.
LipSyncs is sip-and-
Puff controller, which means that people use different inhalation (sips)and exhales (puffs)
Move the computer cursor without their hands.
LipSyncs is designed for touch screen devices such as smartphones and tablets.
Smith said the others. and-
The Puff controller is expensive and does not move.
"Now we are using smartphones and tablets and they are constantly moving with us, even using different interfaces than Windows," he said . ".
"This device will be used with you when you are very mobile.
"LipSync plugs into the device via USB and uses a smartphone or tablet battery.
This prevents the user from having to carry a separate power supply.
