Once I sat in the foyer of a company waiting for my meeting to begin.
I saw two employees standing on a table in the conference room at the corner of my eye trying to connect their laptop to an LCD projector hanging overhead.
It shows teamwork, but I think it could also be a small security risk.
Another time, when I was taken from the front desk to the conference room, my escort apologized for the lighting.

Canada has been certified platinum for the first time.
One of the outstanding features of sustainable development is the nesting of innovative regional energy systems within the building.
The system will allow the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by more than one million kilograms per year.
By recovering heat from the TELUS data center located on site, the new headquarters can reduce traditional energy demand for heating and cooling by more than 80%.
The development partner of Westbank TELUS Garden said, "in all the building functions that contribute to the LEED Platinum certification, the regional energy system alone makes the building the most energy-efficient real estate in Vancouver.
"Then there is an innovation center where the company and its team members try the original ideas and nurture new concepts that ultimately benefit the customer base.
The cantilever space suspended on the main road maximizes the vertical space and square feet of the building itself.
With over 10,000 square feet of garden space, the building has more than 1,000 plants and trees on six different levels, double the outdoor work space.
Team members will plant and harvest agricultural products on site next season.

This powers the exterior lighting of the building, not to mention the installation of the rainwater collection system, which is used to irrigate all kinds of gardens throughout the building.
Of course, as you would expect at the brand new headquarters, there are collaborative and private meeting rooms, open seating areas, shared workstations, outdoor terraces, kitchens and a variety of amenities.
The building has unique design elements such as elevated floor system, 100% fresh air ventilation, radiant heating and cooling, above average ceiling height and operable windows. Imagine that.

What does all this mean?
Whether in Google or TELUS, a building can have a wonderful and positive impact on your organizational culture.
